Najm ud-din Kubra. Fawa'ih al-jamal wa-fawatih al-Jalal. Persia XII -XIII
Close your eyes and observe what you
see. If you see nothing, it is a shortcoming that only comes from
you.
In truth, you see, but the shadows of
your body are too close to your eyes, so you do not perceive. If you
want to find out what it could be when you close your eyes, soften
your body.
(...)
Contemplative concentration is the
result of withdrawal; it is its secret. Its opposite is the
dispersion. There is not better grace than withdrawal and no worse
punishment than dispersion.
(...)
What allows to open the vision is the
disappearance of the veil that covers it. (...) When you sleep, you
get rid of the weight of the body and your senses are closed to the
ocean of existence. Other senses open towards the hidden world, like
the eye, ear, nose, mouth, hand, foot, and whole other body. There
you see, hear and even taste food of hidden world -sometimes when
you awake you have still the taste of the food that was eaten in it
-, there you speak, walk, and reach far away regions, because the
distance is not masked.
The dream's body is a more perfect one.
In that body it is frequently given the ability to fly, walk on water
or into the fire without burning. Please do not think these are empty
words, it is a reality; because dream is the brother of death.
…...
No vayas a pensar
